About Keld Mining
Built on Conviction. Driven by Purpose.
Since 2013, Keld Mining has pursued a singular belief — that Africa's mineral wealth, extracted responsibly, can generate enduring value for investors, communities, and the continent itself.
Founded in 2013
Keld Mining was founded in 2013 by Michael Norman and Grace Norman, two industry veterans who saw what others overlooked: that Southern and West Africa's gold belts were among the world's most productive — and most underserved by institutional-grade operators.
Starting with a single exploration concession in Zimbabwe's Midlands Greenstone Belt, they built Keld Mining from the ground up — securing licences, assembling a world-class technical team, and establishing the governance frameworks that would define the company's character.
Today, Keld Mining operates in Zimbabwe and Ghana, manages $213 million in assets, and employs more than 665 people directly — with a further 1,200 supported through supply chain and community programmes.
To extract Africa's precious metals responsibly, profitably, and with lasting benefit to the communities and environments in which we operate.
To be the most trusted gold mining operator in Southern and West Africa — setting the standard for governance, sustainability, and long-term value creation.
Integrity
We operate with transparency at every level — from boardroom to mine floor. Our investors, partners, and communities can rely on us to do what we say.
Stewardship
The land we mine is not ours to keep. We take our environmental obligations seriously, restoring and rehabilitating every site we operate.
Ambition
Africa's mineral potential is vast and largely untapped. We pursue it with the rigour of a major and the agility of an explorer.
Partnership
Our best results come from working alongside communities, governments, and investors — not around them.
Responsible Mining Is Not a Constraint. It Is Our Competitive Advantage.
From the outset, Michael and Grace Norman insisted that responsible mining was not a compliance exercise — it was the foundation of a durable business. That conviction is embedded in every aspect of how Keld Mining operates.
We apply international best-practice standards across all our sites: the IFC Performance Standards, the Equator Principles, and the ICMM Sustainable Development Framework. Our environmental management plans are independently audited annually.
Environmental Management
Rigorous land rehabilitation, water stewardship, and biodiversity protection programmes at every active site.
Safety First
Zero-harm is our target. We have maintained an industry-leading safety record across all operations since 2016.
Transparent Reporting
Annual sustainability reports, independently verified, published in full. No selective disclosure.
The Communities We Operate In Are Partners, Not Bystanders.
Keld Mining's community investment programme operates in both Zimbabwe and Ghana. We believe that a mine which does not benefit its host community is a mine that will not last.
Invested since 2015 in education, healthcare, and infrastructure across Zimbabwe and Ghana.
Of our workforce is recruited from within 50km of our operating sites.
Independent ESG assessment — the highest rating awarded to a junior mining operator in Southern and West Africa.
Active programmes spanning schools, clinics, clean water access, and vocational training across both countries.
